Sons of the Cloth
Formed in late 2004, the members of Sons of the Cloth instantly recognized a common dissatisfaction with the homogenization of current musical trends. Setting out to forge an original and dynamic style, they combined elements of old and new. Using progressive rock as a platform to build on, the Sons included strong piano melodies in their compositions giving their work a flowing feel. Adding dynamic lead guitar work that is heavy with out being over bearing gives their sound a solid hard edge. Propelled forward by drums and bass guitar both of which emphasize the Sons progressive roots, the music is rounded out with lyrics that speak towards universalisms while providing sly social commentary. Inspired by such divergent influences as Tool, Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, Nurosis and Piotr Ilyitch Tchaikovsky, the Sons are a strikingly new and different sound. While their music is darkly compelling, you still find yourself humming it days and weeks later.
